27th Indiana Plaque at Antietam National Battlefield

27th Indiana Plaque at Antietam National Battlefield on north side of Cornfield Avenue, 400 yards south of where the regiment was engaged in the battle.

This blog site is an online journal about a trip I took with my oldest son and a cousin to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the battle of Antietam.  Recorded here are our recollections about the trip, along with photographs, links to genealogical information regarding our family members who fought at Antietam, and other relevant information.  This is also the site through which I intend to offer edited versions of the regimental history written by Edmund Randolph Brown, Co. C, 27th Indiana, which is a work in progress.

The photograph at the top is of the sun rising over the East Woods and The Cornfield on the morning of September 17, 2012, 150 years to the day after the battle.  It was taken during the Sunrise in The Cornfield tour.
